In our last post (here) you may have noticed that the Yourdori Girls are planning a party. You might ask yourself, what does that have to do with planners, or journaling or anything to do with Yourdori?
Well, my friends, it has everything to do with Yourdori! Because Yourdori is a Home For Your Story, it's where the action happens, it's a record of life. And every girl should get to go to her dream tea party at least once in her life.
When we were young, we never got to go to a really girly tea-party like the ones in movies or in picture books. We never attended an event in a pretty dress, wearing shiny black shoes, or got to drink from a real tea cup and eat real tea treats. So planning a dreamy, fun, tea party ended up on our To-Do List as grown-ups. We could spend all our lives waiting for someone to invite us to a tea party or just attend an expensive tea service OR, we could plan one ourselves.
Plan One or Three or Ten.
Because this is so fun we think it might become "a thing."
We've been on a mission to collect tea party related items, because we are hoping for a really big turn out. We are counting tea cups, hunting for tea pots, gathering all the pretties while trying hard to stay within our budget.
The First Step Of Planning
We want to use what we have so that the money for tickets can be given to a great local cause. Our first step in planning something big is Make A List.
This is a starting list of all the things we can think of that we might need. There are actually more lists, of decorations, supplies to make decorations, food, and ingredients to buy for food.
Our go-to, first step to accomplish things is list making.
It is always nice to have company while making a list. Even if company insists sitting right in the middle of everything. This is Pepper. She is a little bit of a grumpy Pepper Pot, but after a few hedgie treats, she was more inclined to share her cuteness with us.
Second Step of Planning
Take inventory. Nancy and I are collectors and we wouldn't be planning this special event if we didn't already have so many adorable things to make it fun. Such as Tea Cups. I was stressing out, because cute, wonderful tea cups are a must. I hadn't counted how many I had, between sets, and individuals, and little ones here or there.
Can you believe it, but I think I might already own fifty tea cups?
But, how many saucers do I have?
I have to take inventory and count them.
These last two weeks, behind the scenes at the Yourdori Headquarters, we have been busy with our big Alice In Wonderland Mad Hatter Tea Party Awesomeness, making lists and taking inventory - as well as dealing with the everyday pitfalls and roller-coaster of life. Like you, Nancy and I have to juggle our daily life with our crafty biz life, and like you, we have found it quite difficult to do everything we want to do in a day.
The days are just not long enough. How many times have you said that to yourself. The days are just not long enough!
We have Travelers Note books to make, sweet Story Kits for your notebooks to put together, design team Canvas Corp Brands Projects to complete, jobs to attend, homes that can't function without us and families to feed.
We get busy, we get distracted, we get caught up in all the wonderfulness of our unfolding story -
And we forget to buy tickets! Do not forget to buy tickets! On the sidebar is the PayPal button for the link to buy tickets to attend this Mad Hatter Tea Party in Portland, Oregon. For more information regarding the party go Here. To see the Facebook event page go Here. Our bakers and makers cannot prepare a treat filled tea party without your ticket purchase. Do not wait, or you will be too late.
And of course we must set aside time to take photo's of hedgies in teacups.
What keeps you most busy in life? Have you ever gotten to attend the tea party of your childhood imagination? And...should we take the Pepper to the party?
Let us know what you think in the comments. We love hearing from you!
